But needed to use... 
ACLOCAL_PATH=/usr/share/aclocal ./autogen.sh; ./configure --disable-id3v23 
 
because (so far) there are problems compiling id3lib.


doh!
This is fixed, "sudo apt-get install libid3-3.8.3-dev"
