Re: Testing for a new stable release

Hi,

So I went ahead and upgraded to 2.2.2. Everything works nicely and the many improvements are really great too. So I'd like to thank you, David, for taking over the maintenance and improving this app which I have been using heavily for countless years to organize my music collection. I use it weekly to tag OGG, FLAC and sometimes MP3 files. And so far ( after 2 month of use ) I haven't found a single glitch in the new version.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

Somehow I completely missed this. Sorry for the noise. That's excellent. So I'll go ahead and upgrade :)

Thanks,

This sounds really good. I'd love to upgrade and test the new version but
unfortunately I rely on a feature that was removed some time ago. That is
the ability to input the same field several times ( you could do that by
adding a dash between two strings in a text field ). I understand that the
dash trick is not really a good way to do this. But will this ability be
added again in the near future or is it too complex ?

That feature was not removed, it was just disabled by default (and with good reason, as it generated a lot of confusion and many bug reports).  You can enable it in the preferences, individually for different fields: Edit→Preferences→Tag Settings→Tag Splitting.

There is an open bug to improve the handling of multiple tag fields:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=699476

As the feature depends on specific tag formats, a bit of refactoring is needed before it can be implemented.
