If you're speaking about the checkboxes in the preferences window, they 
work only when using the scanner for tags or filenames.

In you case, I suggest to you to use the conversion available with the 
"Process fields" scanner

Not automatically, you must edit them manually one by one (the popup 
menu may help you)
