thanks, I'm using the latest git master from the 0.10 branch, where this
patch is already included. As I found out today the trouble was
obviously coming from libva. After removing all the vaapi stuff it works
now, both directly and via rtsp. 
I need to dig deeper to find the reason - unless someone has come across
any such issues and has a clue how to fix it...
