I think you can place a connection point shape with another shape and then group them. Then you can attach a line to that point in the group.  Might also be wrong but it is a quick workaround if I am correct.  I often create groups of entities and shapes and save them in another tab or sheet for reuse later, by copying and pasting -  a sort manual palette.  never liked messing with making new shapes but plenty of people do it.
