Re: File extension "dia~"

I’m currently saving diagram files to my desktop.  In addition to the
standard file with the “dia” extension, I also see a file with the “dia~”
extension.  What is this file,

It is a copy of the original file as it was before you've hit the "save" button.

and can I stop the file from appearing?

You can't.

I already have hidden  files excluded from view.
