Sounds like a bad packaging bug. Please file a bug here
(requires creating a launchpad account):
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dia/+bugs

(make sure to mention 14.04LTS)

Please attach the complete log from "sudo apt-get install dia".

There will probably be a bug fix or workaround.
