Transparency for objects in Dia?

I’m trying to get transparency on a standard polygon in Dia, but the colour picker never has the opacity 
option in it (unlike the screenshot here http://dia-installer.de/doc/en/objects-chapter.html#color-selector). 

I’ve tried Dia 0.97.2 on Mac, Linux, and Windows, and they all have the opacity slider missing (for all 
shapes). Is there any way around this?
