Just wondering if this is compatible with SharePoint.

SharePoint can serve up just about any type of document, however, Dia
will not have any integration with SP, which are are likely used to
with MS Office.

If your office PCs have a viewer for Visio files, then you could
export your Dia diagrams in Visio XML format.

Also, if your web browser support SVG files, you could export your
diagrams as SVG files.

If your web browser is configured properly, you can have Dia launched
whenever a .dia document is served, but that is something that will
work with any web server.

If you need proper integration with the SharePoint server, you will
need Visio itself.
