To me it looks like everything is working as intended. Of course there is 
room for improvements but still I don't expect major changes to how text 
editing work in final 0.97 - at least not without dedicated input.

I intentionally changed the tool shortcuts to single letters to find 
glitches with the text edit mode early. Unfortunately I'm not able to 
reproduce http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=572307

Every action which should not be available during text edit mode needs to 
be explicit disabled in code (see diagram_update_menu_sensitivity) but a 
lot already are. (I did not test all the UI variants, though.)
