Re: Stretching grouped objects

Then why is it called SVG? (Scalable VG)
todd.
I'd guess each object is only scalable to itself, not to other objects?

You will need to read the spec on SVG to get deep into how the graphic
entities are created and how they behave. I can assure you that if
stretching grouped objects was easy then one of our esteemed programmers
would have done so. But I am sure they will welcome any help. Not being a
programmer I thought I might try to write documentation on shape creation,
but I couldn't wade through that spec to get the necessary background.

It Should be easy to implement as all it means is applying the same
change of position and stretch to more than 1 object
so since you can do it to 1 object, you should be easily able to do
the exact same thing to >1 object.
If I had time I'd do it myself but I'm a win32 programmer now.
Need a manual for how to translate being a developer from win32 to
open source / sourceForge or however it's done for dia!

I would export an in image of the objects into Inkscape or GIMP for
stretching and then bring that image back into Dia. It isn't a shape
with
connection ponts but it would serve as a work around.

But I am not aware that you can stretch a group in Dia. You have to
keep in
ming that Dia is a diagramming software, not an image manipulation
software.
I just a few minutes ago wanted to combine two previously existing Dia
grams
and one was scaled a little smaller than I liked. I was wishing for a
scaling function then, but it isn't in the version I prefer v0.95-pre7

I don't think it is possible to do what you want. Even in Inkscape the
vector capabilities only let you work on canned shapes like rectangles
and
elipse/circles, lines and arcs - not on groups of these together. GIMP
has
some interesting transformation capabilities. I sometimes transform
misshapen scans which is sort of what you are describing.

Hello!
How do I stretch a grouped set of objects. (very simple, a group of
polygons).
Thanks!
Todd.
