Does anybody know how to write formulae in latex math mode into
diagrams?
The pgf export method escapes them in the produced output: $a \mapsto
b$ becomes \$ a \mapsto b \$, which produces $a \mapsto b$ in the
document.

Hi,

what is wrong with that? The Dollarsigns switch to math mode in LaTeX or
plain TeX.
