I've committed your patch to SVN, I think it looks nice.  I think we can
take out the "use menubar" option when this is complete; I think there
is significant overlap between those who use menubar at the top and
those who want the integrated UI.  Getting the zoom box and snap widgets
back would be nice:)

Things are progressing.  I have some things working on the toolbar and I'm integrating the display menus.  I have the snap items sitting on the toolbar but they don't do anything at the moment.  I need to make them and zoom tie into a diagram that becomes active.  The close buttons for the notebook pages appear to work but I think it's kludgy.  I don't really know if everything is being cleaned up properly.  I was thinking that I might send a patch out tomorrow but I want to a few things cleanup up and I might not have time.
