This happens quite often to me, so it'd be nice if the dialog could take
into consideration the location of the selected object and pop up to the
side if needed.

Should I file an enhancement request for this?

X doesn't allow absolute positioning of windows, but you can suggest a
position. We don't right now suggest anything, letting the window manager
do what the user has asked for. While it wouldn't be technically
impossible to give such hints (though the upcoming multi-object properties
makes it trickier), I'm a bit leery of messing with that.

Ok, I can understand that. This is however one of the more annoying things
to me when using Dia regurarly. I often have to fiddle with font size,
line widths etc on many objects in order to get a consistent look. More
often than not, the dialog pops up in the wrong place.

I know this isn't a fix, but do you have your window manager set up such
that a key combo lets you move a window by clicking anywhere in it? I
rarely think much of where windows are placed anymore, as moving them
around is dead easy - no time wasted finding a window bar to drag with,
and my left hand is always close to the windows key anyway.
