Why shouldn't the connectors exist without a box? Do they use anything
from the box? In general, Dia doesn't limit the placements of things
much.

We are currently designing electronic systems. The boxes stand for equipments whiches are connected by
cables. But these can only be connected to a "connector object" and not directly to the box.
In addition boxes and cables contains informations (like signals, identifiers, etc.) whiches can be analyzed
through the connector (to know if the link is operational for example). These informations are used by
another program which think the diagram is invalid when a connector doesn't have these informations.
So will certainly just consider the case in this other program.
