Compiling on Mac os x?

Has anyone actually compiled dia on Mac OS X? I saw some discussion on 
the list history that it was thought to be _possible_ but no examples 
of getting it working. It's not in fink and even with all of the 
dependencies installed the compile complains that .so files are not 
linkable (mac os x uses .dylib instead) so it doesn't work.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!
