My setup has exactly the same symptoms as Steffen's.
Steffen told me he's using db2pdf. My system is different: I have
openjade, jadetex, dvips, and ps2pdf.
openjade produces a LaTeX file. jadetex includes the definitions for the
macros present in openjade's output, and invokes LaTeX, which of course
invokes TeX. LaTeX, however, complains about not finding the graphics
files, vis:

I don't know anything about LaTeX, but I'll keep looking into it. From
the error message, it would seem that something needs to be included in
the file or on the command line to tell it where to look for its input
files. The relevant chunk of the LaTeX file that openjade processes:
{1}\def\ScaleY%
{1}\def\EntitySystemId%
{graphics/home_network}\def\NotationSystemId%
{PNG}}\endPar{}\endNode{}\endNode{}\endPar{}\endSeq{}\endDisplayGroup{}\e
ndNode{
}
\endPar{}\endNode{}\endSeq{}\endDisplayGroup{}\endNode{}\Node%
It might be a matter of tools, but it's clearly not a matter of just
Steffen's tools.
