What a completely bizarre thing to say. The word "slave" doesn't have a whole slew of homonyms with different meanings. Only one verb. So where "slave" has been used, it often does have the connotation that you want to Bowdlerise. While the various other words spelled "master" don't have that connotation at all. If you don't understand the distinction, you really don't seem to have been listening at all.
