Re: This video is dedicated to all of you

I think everyone understands that users are the lifeblood of the GNOME project and that's why we're all here. However...

The problem is, all the public hears about GNOME is the project removing things.

That's a choice on those people's part. Really, we post all the time about new features and improvements: on planet.gnome.org, in the GNOME release notes... The only way someone can hear exclusively about things being removed is by cherry picking what they read, or by only reading the things amplified by /r/linux on Reddit which is already notoriously anti-GNOME.

Now I do understand Sam's argument in his blog post

Also don't mistake a post by an individual GNOMEr on planet.gnome.org as "GNOME has decided". It happens so often, and it really stifles discussion when someone discusses a new, possible, idea on their blog, and they get hammered with the full fury of the internet.

There are plenty of people within GNOME, including me, who don't think themes should be removed. But I think this is a discussion we need to have, as valid points have been raised, and calling it a communication failure on our part is not constructive. We work in the open, so the public gets to see ideas as they develop. Readers who can't handle the uncertainty of seeing ideas in progress as they are discussed, should probably unsubscribe.
