GNOME has a owncloud service. You can use that. (well, it might require
bieng part of the foundation, but I might re-visit that decision)

It really doesn't work for GNOME to provide free services like document
storage to the entire Internet population for whatever purpose they desire.
It costs money per user, but we don't have a per-user revenue model.

It does make sense for GNOME to provide infrastructure to *contributors* for
the purpose of *contributing*, on a best-effort basis. So it really does
need to be restricted to foundation members.

When I siad I would re-visit that decision I didn't mean that we would
open it up to everyone. Clearly, that would not be a wise move. No,
I wanted to give specific people accounts if they are going to be
working on something that is sanctioned by GNOME or by GNOME
foundation folks. I don't think Alex is a GNOME foundation member.
It also forces a lot of us who are foundation members to use non-free
services as well as not use our own technologies while plotting ways
for others to use our technologies.
