Dude, they couldn't have any more contrast.

Well, they could. It sounds like your mom might benefit from High Contrast, Federico, although afaik it doesn't affect the icons in the shell. The magnifier's contrast settings do; maybe try that?

Seems like an obvious bug with the volume icon - did you file a report?

This isn't a bug. He's talking about the fact that the titlebars of the windows are light-colored, and therefore the icon colors seem less distinct in comparison.
