GNOME 2.30.0 will be released on March 29th.

GNOME 3.0 AND THE FUTURE:

The current list in Bugzilla for GNOME 3.0 might look short, but only
because many tickets are metabugs and have long dependency lists:

GSeal:

Maintainers are highly encouraged to try compiling their module with
-DGSEAL_ENABLE *now* (this is partially linked to the goal of dropping
symbols that have been deprecated in GTK+).
This is required for GNOME 3.0.

Dconf:

Maintainers should plan to spend some time for moving from gconf to
dconf early in 2.31, after the GSettings hackfest in the middle of April
has taken place.
Again, this is required for GNOME 3.0.

Panel applets:

Not a blocker, but maintainers of bug-buddy, pessulus, sabayon,
gnome-applets, seahorse-plugins and gdm might consider porting their
panel applets to D-Bus once gnome-panel has dropped Bonobo in early
