The idea behind the Activity Journal was both misinterpreted or
misrepresented. Some where along the line people began to think
zeitgeist features around the desktop was the goal of the Activity
Journal, however the Activity Journal is really a centralized event
browser not a collective project. Often people spoke about adding
Activity Journal features to their modules when they really meant
zeitgeist not embedding the Journal UI.

Still implementing zeitgeist features around GNOME is something that a
lot of us in the zeitgeist project are interested in, and are starting
work towards. If datasource extensions propagate throughout the
desktop and more modules start implementing features utilizing
zeitgeist it will be beneficial to have the Activity Journal installed
to answer more generic questions then those features implemented in
other modules are able to. Kind of like how you have a file browser
and do not depend application's open save dialogs for everything.
