I think we need some migration for things which are important (fonts)
and/or highly user-visible (background) at a minimum. Now if we
migrate gnome-panel then clearly those scripts have to get pretty
scary.
So the question isn't "do we migrate or not", but "how much do we migrate".
-- Colin, who long ago wrote the first bits of those scripts, but if
tasked with it this time would probably write them in something better
than Perl
