So tell me, how do I test my app if there is no data available to
Tracker for me to query?
You do know that Tracker has a config file and you can point it at
whatever data you want right? :P
Somethings are not renamed like tracker-preferences and other UI apps, but
to be honest, if you want to test this properly you should probably use a
separate prefix.
I would have thought about doing so in the first place if I wasn't
told that they are parallel installable. Now the damage is done. :)
:)
I think the only things that don't work in the same prefix are:
- tracker-* UI apps
- tracker-* utils (like tracker-stats)
- man pages
- the icons
Hence saying that both version are parallel installable is not
entirely true and would only lead to further confusion.
Well, not many apps are and almost none are if you install to the same
prefix. Usually you would test this using jhbuild or some sandbox
solution if you want to test it properly. Not being able to run the old
UI apps or old utils is not really problematic, you can always just
re-install the 0.6.x packages.
