While Intrepid could be a little outdated if we want the best in
features, I suppose we can't stick GNOME external deps on a single
distro :)
There are some "build issues" with DeviceKit-disks, see bug #581515:
"DeviceKit-disks is too low in the stack to be part of JHBuild and the
user should really have it installed system-wide"
This is really unfortunate and IMHO breaks the same idea of external
dependence for GNOME :( If we can't simply and safely build it in
JHBuild, how could we make GNOME 2.xx cross-distro buildable? (plus,
there ii the linux-only issue too)
I know this is temporary, that sooner or later distro will include
needed stuff, but in next 6 months the only _stable_ distro
"certified" to test all GNOME 2.27 features will be Fedora 11.
Moreover, PolicyKit (version 0.9) is an approved external dependence
for GNOME: in order to include it, g-d-u should not depend on trunk
(i.e. non released version) stuff like BJörn reported. Please make a
new PolicyKit stable release and ask to increase version before any
other addition.
Cheers, Luca
