There are currently plans to integrate tracker as a storage backend for deskbar (deskbar currently has some small-time indexing needs). Also there is already a handler to query tracker (I'll be releasing a tracker 0.0.5 compatible one in a sec). The handler is not in cvs mainly because we might be relocating various handlers to external packages in the near future.
