I may have been premature in this assessment.  I now think checking or
unchecking these checkboxes only takes effect after logging out and
logging in again.  If this is so, I would suggest a dialogue should
make this explicitly clear.

Anyhow, with all of these boxes unchecked, gvm is now behaving as I
would expect, i.e., nothing is being auto-mounted anymore.
