I'd just like to point out that at least 2 of the 3 people listed in the 
HIG's credits[1] have expressed[2] this is the wrong solution[3], so it 
seems to me that perhaps the HIG as published is confusing and needs to 
be fixed, but I'd say that in any case if the HIG authors are saying 
this decision is wrong, "following the HIG" doesn't sound as good an 
argument anymore....
