6% more degradation? Or do you mean that it improves the performance
to the point where accessibility-enabled gnome-terminal only has 6%
degradation relative to the performance of gnome-terminal without
accessibility enabled?

Actually, stuff like this makes me wonder if it's an additional reason
to turn accessibility on rather than a reason to keep it off. It'll
help us find other little performance problems. ;-)
