This is great work! The HIG should definitely standardize this for
single-document apps and for multi-document ones, and we should have an
API for it.

Related to that is this bug:

It's about having the file chooser present an automatic confirmation for
when you want to overwrite a file in Save mode. There's no such
functionality right now, and so apps implement it in different ways.
