That's possible, because for some unknown reason, gnome
2.10.2 expected icons in /usr/share not in
/opt/gnome2/share as before. So I had to frobnify the icon
path to get my Evolution 2 running.
Well, Evolution 2 was my primary goal for the whole update
procedure.

I never even knew about anything like an icon cache.
Nevertheless, all icon-directories now have an icon:
for i in /usr/share/icons/* ; do gtk-update-icon-cache --force $i ; done

Unfortunately: You are right, it changes eventually
nothing...
FYI: I deleted most of the old .gnome* - stuff in my home
directory in the meantime to tidy up a bit. No visible
results yet...
Is some interference with old gnome 1.4 stuff possible?
I'm just curious, because I have some gnome 1.4 residuals:
urmel:~ # gnome-config --version
gnome-libs 1.4.2
1 /opt/gnome2/bin/gnome-config
It never really interfered with gnome 2.4 or 2.6, for
example.
Strange it is. I'm just reluctant to purge *every*
pre-gnome-2.6-stuff away right now...
Thank You, nevertheless - Marian
