This is not as strong a position as seemed to be agreed when this thread came up before:

Personally I think that's enough for now. There's already enough
pressure not to break the GNOME build.
I disagree; we had experience of this between Beta1 and Beta2 last time. It is not reasonable to have to change client API usage between beta builds IMO.
