Having the xscreensaver D-BUS signal trigger the away mechanism is a
good idea, but I agree with the earlier posts that we need a global
concept of personal presence.
Presence has a lot of neat uses, not just in things like IM/email
integration, but wider client/server and P2P concepts, stuff like SIP,
etc.
Galago is a good place for personal presence.
