hmmm...
what about this question:
mlterm and rxvt-unicode can do most of what gnome-term does.
but both of them are a LOT faster. 
why?


i'm just saying, that maybe gnome-term shouldn't depend on too new/unimplemented/nonexistant X extensions...

or should provide alternative displaying methods for older (read: current ;))
systems...
