debugging gnome-session

Hey all,

I am in search of information on how to debug gnome-session. Everytime I
log in I get a message saying that the Gnome Settings Daemon failed to
start. But when it actually did start. I get an error message in the
console about how a async execution of a binary failed, but it
doesn't tell me what failed.

Are there env variables to get more information from gnome-session?
what about core dumps from programs that failed to start?
