It is a possibility, but I think it is too bulky. For example, it
would then be "Cd-lydudtrækkeren Sound Juicer". It does not seem to
fit well in Danish. (BTW, the equivalent would be "[the] web browser
Mozilla".)

But why should the menu show every single graphical application on the
system? We can relegate that information to some other place. Windows
XP has a much faster menu (although also more confusing). Eugenia
Loli-Queru suggested a completely new UI. Perhaps we can even do
better than a dumb menu.

My favourite system would break up the information so it is easier to
get an overview (there are simply too many items to scan the current
menu quickly), and not show applications I do not pick (i.e. programs
I don't run, like Mozilla, and programs I don't run from the menu,
like GGV and gpdf).

Showing only one application for each [sub]category would be a step in
the right direction. Another example: keeping settings and games out
of the menu would help too. Before I open the menu, I usually know
whether I want an application, the settings or a game.
