Even if official GNOME doesn't bring a mail-reader by default,
distributions have already done -- garnome even. FWIW, Evolution is one
of the best applications ever created for GNOME. And I really don't see
a anything which prevents a regular user from using it on a day by day
basis.
I agree with the (HIG-requirements) of inclusion; but as it's a
work-in-progress task for Evo, GNOME really needs it at least, as it is
now.
BTW, features of Balsa won't satisfy needs of many regular users, at
least the ones I have here. Regular users may want pink/magenta colored
text, nice images on the background, text styles etc. Regular users want
HTML mail :)
