(Changed identities so I could post on desktop-devel, you can verify it's me with the GPG signature) Your mail message gave me a good feeling. I have a suggestion: Phase 1: calling GnomeMeeting from Gaim. There would be a GtkToggleButton (in button style, not checkbox) called "Video" in the Gaim chat window, which when depressed (not sad! =) would launch GnomeMeeting and initiate a session with the remote user. Phase 2: embedding GnomeMeeting from Gaim. The same button would remain. But now doing so would unhide a GnomeMeeting pane, that is, a GtkContainer which is empty, and upon unhiding, a GM Bonobo control would embed itself there and start a video session with the other user. Since you do not need to see your face all the time, below the video window can be a button that lets you toggle between the other user's and your own face (video feed), but it will DFAULT to seeing the other one, or perhaps your own face til the video link is established. Phase 2 would entail the bonobification of GnomeMeeting, and the preparation of GM for reception of the GM bonobo component. Let's hope this frankenstein doesn't go mad on us. Or that lightning bolts aren't necessary to bring it to life (oh, my old burnt mobo). For this to be successful, it's crucial that the GM bonobo component does as much as it can automatically to ease the task of the Gaim people. Perhaps GM could export different components with different functionality (GMSimpleBonoboControl, GMBonoboControl, GMComplicatedBonoboControl, GMDriveMeLikeAFerrariBonoboControl).
