It is sort of. I have it 90 percent [1] done for Gossip, and 90 percent
done for Gaim as patches. The problem is I need evo-data-server to hold
some feild for "callto" or some similar thing. While I was at it I also
added an "Email contact" context item to the Gaim and Gossip contacts
lists.

I showed this to some people at the Brooklyn conference, it seemed to be
a hit.

Any chance the evo dudes could add a field like this? Essentially when
coupled with the IM awareness in Evolution you have 2 places to go as
communications centers. You have the Evolution contacts area, or you can
use the IM contact list as your starting point for initiating
communications.

As soon as I can translate from IM nickname to email address and callto
uri, I will submit these patches to the respective maintainers.

[1] Gui part is done for both, but the translation from aim name to
callto uri is the hold up. There was no good central communications
infrastructure to accomplish this previously, but I hope
evolution-data-server becomes accepted and is extended to support these
other contact fields as well.
