[Fwd: Post-It Notes]

I'm resending a bunch of mail because I just learned that my mail
program had gotten borked and has been swallowing my "sent" mail for the
past couple of weeks. If you have already received this, please ignore.

I'm resending this because it apparently did not go through the first time.

For a while I've been wanting a simple "Post-It Notes" utility for my
Gnome Desktop. Back during the 1.2/1.4 era, there were a few third-party
(i.e. not part of the official gnome release) applets/applications that
existed, most notably GNotes and Molasses. However, they are all
currently unmaintained and unported.

I've written one as a gnome-2 panel applet. You can left-click on it to
create a new post-it note on the desktop. Right-clicking offers several
options (destroy all notes, hide/unhide all notes, etc). Right clicking
on a post-it note itself allows you to create/destroy notes.

(Note: you need to right click on the date stamp of the post-it note.
Right-clicking on the text area justs opens the default context menu for
a GtkTextView).

I was wondering if this could be included as part of the official
gnome-applets or gnome-core package? It's as useful as any of the other
applets in there, I believe. If there is interest, I'll complete the
remaining polishing needed (translatable skins, atk, tooltips, etc), and
then inquire to the appropriate maintainers about merging my code in.

(Note: I wrote this against gtk+-2.0.2)

You can download the package to try out from:

Feedback is welcome!
