I agree, I don't think the place to make this happen is in every
applet's Preferences dialog, there probably needs to be a more general
solution.  Like just being able to grab the border of anything on the
panel and resize it to be whatever size you want  :)

All I know is that I have my applets, launchers and things nicely
grouped on my 1.4 panel with aesthetically pleasing spaces between them,
and I can't do it in 2.0, at least not on the panel I've plonked my
windowlist on.  I don't have any great shorter-term solutions off the
top of my head, unfortunately, but I might ponder it in the bath
tonight...
