Major issues with window list applet

I know it is late but gnome-panel seems to break all the time.

I have major problems with the lack of functionality with the window
list applet compared to the gnome 1 pager

No facility to dictate the size given to it
No control of the individual programs (ie kill maximize etc)
very little configurability

Ay way to "revert" this reversion
