OK, here's how I'm saying it:
*************************
<para>
GNOME 2 may be installed in parallel with the GNOME 1.4.1 release
libraries, allowing you to use GNOME 2's primary desktop functions
— panels, Nautilus, etc. — while also running applications
that have not yet been ported and therefore still require GNOME 1.4
libraries.
<note>
<para>
For some GNOME 1.x apps, you need the GNOME 1.x control-center
(eg:
gnome-pilot for use in evolution).
</para>
</note>
</para>
*****************
I wouldn't mind if someone wants to say something more elaborate, or
enumerate all the apps that might clash because newname=oldname.
Cheers,
John
