Beagle indexing and Samba mounted drives

Hi, 

How does Beagle create and update it's indexes? How does it work on a Samba
mounted drive? 

I was thinking of samba mounting our main Windows 2003 server from one
of our FC5 servers, and then using Beagle to index it. Anything's got to
be better than Windows Search!
