It happenend with CVS versions from 2005-05-23 and 2005-05-29, and also
happens with 0.0.10. I still have the archives and Debian-packages
(created with checkinstall) and may send them to you.

Ok, done. But this time the process ended. For being shure I tried it
with another URL which wasn't indexed before. The process also ended.
I believe in this case the trace is no use for you (I will keep it for
some time anyway):

While testing I observed something strange. This is how I started
beagle:
holger degenatron:~$ beagled ; best &
[1] 8220
holger degenatron:~$ Rendering
Done Rendering: 2,40s
WARN: GConf key '/apps/Beagle/keybindings/show_beagle' does not exist, using default.
DEBUG: Binding key 'F12' for '/apps/Beagle/keybindings/show_beagle'
If you're wondering whether Best is working check your notification area (system tray)
And this is what appeared in the same terminal (I used another one for
testing):
holger degenatron:~$
GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:141: failed to allocate 2173715172 bytes
aborting...
/usr/local/lib/beagle/beagled-index-helper: line 23: 8267 Aborted MONO_GAC_PREFIX="/usr:/usr/local:$MONO_GAC_PREFIX" MONO_PATH="$THIS_PATH:$MONO_PATH" mono --debug $THIS_EXE "$@"
Maybe this has something to do with the --trace command, but then again
it could be a hint.
