I have my own implementation of vp8enc. I have prioritized it higher than the vp8enc which comes with Ubuntu on 14.04 but it doesn't get picked up. I also noticed that if I remove the original vp8enc and rename mine as vp8enc, it does get picked up. Does this mean that Cheese picks vp8 encoder directly by name? Is there a plan to fix this? If not, I would like to volunteer to fix it.
Yes, currently Cheese uses the vp8enc element directly, creating it by name. If you want to fix it, please file a bug in Bugzilla, and attach your patch there. Thanks!
