cheese-3.10.2 does not detect webcam but guvcview does

Using cheese-3.10.2 compiled from scratch, the integrated webcam on my dell e6220 is not detected, but using 
guvcview it works fine.

Various output pasted below, what trouble-shooting steps could I try?
