preview screen freezes with higher resolution

Using Ubuntu 12.04  Cheese 3.4.1             99guspuppet

Using LogiTech C910 webcam

Cheese works fine up to a resolution ( set in preferences )  of 2048 by 1536.

The preview window quits updating for a resolution of 2592 x 1944
