Problem with cheese

When I ran cheese in my ubuntu 8.10 it hangs after taking a photo. From CLI I get the following outout
~$ cheese
libv4l2: error converting / decoding frame data: v4l-convert: error parsing JPEG header: Not a JPG file ?
